09/24/2017 - College PREP - Nashville, TN - Amari McAllister is a 2018 outside hitter. Amari is a springy, athletic player who makes up for her size with her ability to jump and move. As an outside hitter she has a high contact swing with a fast arm - combine that with her vertical and she is becomes an effective hitter. To take her hitting to another level she is focused on her timing of the set, finding hands and hitting high off of them and developing more shots. Defensively Amari is a good defender - she stays low and with her quickness and athletic ability she is able to get to balls and make plays. As a blocker she does a good job of taking space up along the net and gets touches - she just needs to finish her move with penetrating across the net to stop the attack. From the end line she has a jump top spin serve. This serve could be effective she just needs to add more pop or speed to the ball and keep the toss out in front of her. Right now it is to easy of a "down ball" but with those two minor adjustments she will see improvement and effectiveness. As a senior we are excited to see where Amari will end up playing at next fall.
