12/14/2017 - Volleyball Factory Select Training at the NCAA Championship - Emma is a dynamic middle blocker. She makes good contact with the ball and is a strong hitter. Emma needs to work on being available as a hitter every time. This means she has to be vocal and driving/approaching for an offensive set as much as possible, especially when the ball is passed or dug within the 3 meter line (attack line). Fast transition footwork is important, and will help Emma be more available for the setter to find her and deliver a hittable ball. Thus, making sure Emma gets of the net quickly, finds the ball, and drives to the setter will elevate her game and her effectiveness as a middle. Emma is a strong blocker. Just remember to follow your hitter and not get caught "ball watching." Emma was a pleasure to coach. She is very coachable, asked questions, and she made great improvements throughout the training camp.
11/19/2017 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN - Emma McPeek is a 2018 middle blocker and outside hitter. She is much stronger as a middle blocker; covering to outside hitter this late in her career is not going to help her getting recruited. She will be more beneficial to a team scoring points in the middle. She should continue to learn both positions but her abilities in the middle are far more above her abilities as an outside. She is very athletic but needs proper technical training to get all the pieces working together. We look forward in the opportunity to help her grow on the court at our NCAA training event in Kansas City in mid December. As an attacker in the middle she was more confident and explosive. She has good hand contact, good swing and generated good power. As a blocker she needs to work on taking up more space at the net by spreading hands apart more and sealing the net. She also needs a more solid base and better footwork. From the end line she ha a good consistent standing float serve and is able to zone serve well. She needs to work on hand contact and maintain tight wrist for more effective float.
