12/03/2017 - College PREP - Plain City, OH - Erin Lynch is a 2018 outside hitter. She has a fast arm swing with good power that needs focus on using more of her left arm - she needs to drive the left arm up and then pull to her body when she contacts the ball - this will help in many ways by not making her lean to her left or land on just her left foot. In her approach she has a pre-hop studded that she needs to work on removing - just focus on 3 steps, when you add another step in your approach it affects the momentum and messes up proper footwork. With focus on her left arm in the arm swing & proper footwork she should see a dramatic difference in the effectiveness of her attacking. As a defender she stays low and has good footwork to the ball. She needs to focus on not stepping backwards first but waiting till the ball is contacted and then react forward to the ball - also not having too wide of a base on defense that it doesn't allow her to move quickly and easily to balls out of her range. From the end line she has a standing float serve that needs more attention to detail. An inconsistent toss over her right shoulder causes her to contact the ball in a way that puts spin on the ball and has her off balance - keep the toss over her right shoulder and contact the back middle of the ball with the hand (primarily with the palm) - with more reps and focus in these areas she will see a jump in her serving consistency. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Erin.
