08/20/2017 - College PREP - Portland, OR - Jamie Packer is a 2020 setter. Only entering her sophomore year, she shows signs of great potential and with continued practice and reps could see some great improvement and help her to be a stronger player. As a setter she does a great job of being square to her target and keeping hands high when setting. She is comfortable running middles and has a consistent back set. Determined to play at the next level and run an offense she continues to work on being more neutral when back setting so that they defense can't read her sets; more consistent location on the outside set; and having even, strong ball shaped hands that finish flat with palms to the sky when she finishes (currently flicks some). As a passer and defender Jamie is very comfortable stepping in to play balls. She has excellent court awareness, stays low and makes plays. She has a good platform, angled to target that produces a quality pass. She is continuing to focus on keeping her shoulders forward and being disciplined on defense with limiting her extra movement. From the end line Jamie has a strong consistent standing float serve that is flat and low to the net. She is continuing to work on serving seems to challenger her passers more. Only entering her sophomore year we are excited to see how she continues to develop and can't wait to see where she ends up in future years as we know she will be a good addition.
