08/20/2017 - College PREP - Portland, OR - Kirah Boynton-Brown is a 2018 middle blocker. Kirah is a threat at the net who finds ways to score for her team. She is able to run an effective quick tempo middle and slides. She has a variety of shots and is good about reading goth block and controlling the ball. Her arm swing is high and fast - she also jumps well giving her an advantage. She continues to work and improve her hitting; currently she is focusing on her footwork for the slide by really driving the right leg up and whipping her hip around back into the court - with these adjustments she will see more power in her slide attack. As a blocker she stays loaded and disciplined at the net in base ready to react and move to the set. She takes up a large area on the court with her swing block where she gets quality touches. She is a much stronger blocker on the right side. She is continuing to focus on eye sequencing to avoid just ball watching and her penetration across the net, not just being straight up. As a middle she is comfortable with passing and defending. She creates good angels, sees the courts well and is able to react and put up a good ball. She is vocal and is able to make plays. Her biggest focus on defense is staying low and weight in balls of feet. From the end line she has a consistent jump float serve. Good flat hadn't with solid control on the ball. She has the ability to serve short and deep and hit different zones. To prepare her self for college she is continuing to work on serving seams so that she can tie up her opponents in the near future. Over all Kirah would be a great addition to a competitive program. She is a versatile player who can plan middle or opposite and is comfortable passing. Entering her senior yea we are excited and anxious to see where she will end up committing in the near future.
