09/17/2017 - College PREP - Potomac, MD - Lyric Snowden is a 2020 middle blocker. Lyric's athletic build with long arms and ability to jump are two attributes that catch your eye. She is an aggressive middle attacker with a fast arm that has good power and is able to control her shots. Though she identifies as a middle she has the ability to play on either pin as well - but from working with her we could see her being a very productive opposite hitter. She can run a quick and also hit an out of system ball - and not to mention she can block. As a blocker she takes up good space on the net and is active getting many touches slowing down her opponents. Determined to be a blocking force she focuses on penetrating across the net and continuing to work on reading the opposing setter. She is also comfortable passing in the back row. She has a good platform that is angled to target and produces a good quality ball. With the opportunity to play six rotations in the future she continues to work on her defense by working on staying low, reading the offense and not hesitating when she goes to play balls. From the end line she has a consistent standing float serve with good speed that is difficult to pass. She has been encouraged by the Factory staff to continue to develop and use her jump float serve as it is actually they more effective serve and much tougher to return. It cross the net with some real pace - with continue reps and confidence this could be her serve. Over all Lyric is only entering her sophomore yet and if she continues to work on focusing on being a all around player and narrowing in on the suggested areas she could be a great addition for a future program. We look forward in seeing her continue progress.
