12/14/2017 - Volleyball Factory Select Training at the NCAA Championship - Makaila is a very "raw" player, meaning she is just getting started in her training, and it is early in her development given her age. Makaila is a very powerful and explosive hitter. A few things that she needs to work on is making sure that her hitting arm/elbow is high. In her early development she has adopted somewhat of a roundhouse arm swing. Makaila needs to make sure she leads with elbow when hitting and not drop her hand past her waist when she swings. This will enable her to hit on top of the ball more efficiently. Additionally, she is weaker in most all of her skills when compared to other players her age. Strengthening ball control will assist in this area. Furthermore, getting more reps at free ball passing, setting, and serving will help Makaila significantly. Overall, gaining more knowledge of the game by watching college or university volleyball matches will also help improve her volleyball IQ. It was a pleasure to work with Makayla. She is extremely coachable, and the staff saw vast improvement in her skills in just the three days of the training camp.
