07/20/2017 - Volleyball Factory Lone Star Select Training - Riane Heyen is a 2019 libero. Defensively she sees the game well and is able to make plays. She has a good strong platform and gets her feet to the ball allowing her to put up a good quality ball for the setter. Continuing to improve her game, she is focused on staying on the balls of her feet with her weight forward so that she can make even more plays and keeping her platform locked - not allowing to swing or guide the ball to target. Riane is a great hustler and is an aggressive defender always looking to make a play. As a libero, she is comfortable taking the second ball if the setter digs it or is unable to get to the ball. She is able to put up a good hittable ball for her pin players to attack. From the end line she has a solid jump float serve with good speed that passes just above the net. At times she has a tendency to toss the ball behind her making her contact behind her head which lessens the effectiveness and consistency of the serve. With continued reps and focusing the toss out in front, we think she'll develop into a key server. Overall, we think that Riane is a good libero and we are excited to see the growth in her game over the next two years as she prepares for the opportunity to play at the next level.
