06/18/2017 - AAU Girls Junior National Volleyball Championship
- Samantha Velasquez is a 2018 libero. She has a great touch on the ball which puts up a quality or settable ball each time. With some setting background, she is very comfortable with taking balls with her hands. Defensively, she is great at reacting quickly to make plays. She has a strong, low, wide base and gets balls to the target or setter. Her strongest volleyball skill is her serve. From the end line she has a strong float serve that can hit all zones called by the coach. Her serves are consistent and often end up with the opponent having some difficulty passing it. Entering her senior year, we are anxious to see where she will commit to as we know she will be a great addition to a college program.
12/18/2015 - Volleyball Factory Defensive & Setting Development Camp
- Samantha has a tough float with good distance and location. In the back court she did a great job adjusting to the hitters and being able to get her platform out early and create an angle before contact. She did a good job communicating with her teammates in serve receive and was able to track the ball and create movement before the serve crossed the net. Samantha is very hard worker which will improve her chances of playing at the next level.
10/11/2015 - College PREP - Austin, TX
- Samantha is a 2018 Libero. She had good speed and solid contact with the ball on her serve, creating a consistent serve each time. Samantha had good lateral movements while in defense and serve receive which led to accurate passes to the setter. She is continuing to work on her reaction time when she is playing defense out of middle back. Overall, Samantha is a hard working player and with continued coaching, reps and exposure she will have the opportunity to play at the next level and be a valuable asset to a great collegiate program.
