07/20/2017 - Volleyball Factory Lone Star Select Training - Taylor Hentz is a 2018 outside hitter. Taylor has a good, fast arm swing that develops good power. She is quick to get off the group and jumps very well. As a hitter she scores easily and is able to read the block while attacking. Determined to continue to improve her game she is focusing on limiting her "happy feet" and keep her approach to a 3 or 4 step approaching allowing for a cleaner approach where she will develop momentum into her attack. Sometimes with the added steps it takes away from her ability to time the attack. Taylor shows tools to be a great blocker. She has a big presence at the net and has strong shoulders allowing her to hold & penetrate across the net which ultimate either stops or slows down the hitter getting touches on the ball. She continues to work on the toughest skill which is reading & reacting - this will come with continued practice of watching the ball come out of the setters hand or seeing what is happening in the play (ball passed off the net, set will go to pin; ball set on the net all 3 hitters are live). From the end line Taylor has a good jump float that is low to the net. The serve could develop into a very effective serve that could tie up the opponents with continued work on her toss out in front of her. Defensively she sees the game well and is able to move and make plays. Her biggest area of focus in defense/passing is to hold that platform & let the angle take the ball to where she wants it to go - when this is set she has true quality passes to the target/setter. Entering her senior year we are very excited and anxious to see where she commits. We believe Taylor has the tools to be a great player and addition to a collegiate program.
